Dr. Eric M. Hao is a clinician-educator with multidisciplinary training in dentistry, acupuncture, Chinese medicine, and biomedical sciences. He has practiced acupuncture for more than 30 years, with a particular interest in difficult-to-treat pain, neuropathic and sensory disorders, autonomic dysfunction, and complex functional conditions.

He began his healthcare career in dentistry and later expanded his professional training into acupuncture and Chinese medicine. He earned both his Master of Science in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine and Doctor of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine degrees in the United States.

His clinical experience eventually led him to the Power Of Nature Acupuncture Medical System (PONAMS), a system that approaches clinical problems through the integration of acupuncture, modified Chinese medicine, anatomy, physiology, neurology, and pathology.

​

Rather than treating Chinese medicine and conventional medicine as separate bodies of knowledge, Dr. Hao’s work focuses on identifying the mechanisms behind a patient’s clinical presentation and using that understanding to develop a structured treatment strategy.

Over the years, he has taught acupuncture and PONAMS internationally and has developed PONAMS-based herbal and advanced clinical applications. His current educational work is directed toward acupuncture and Chinese medicine practitioners worldwide who want to strengthen their clinical reasoning and expand their ability to approach difficult cases.

His teaching emphasizes understanding why a disorder behaves as it does, selecting treatment according to clinical mechanisms rather than memorized protocols, observing the patient’s response, and continuously refining the treatment strategy.
